Folk music concerts in Seattle, the Eastside and nearby areas. I am the host of "The Real Folk" on 91.3fm KBCS (Bellevue, Seattle, Tacoma) or streaming at KBCS.FM. The show airs every Sunday 6-8pm. You can listen to archived shows for up to two weeks after air date. The Real Folk is also available as a podcast from MixCloud. What is folk music? To me, it's acoustic music with an emphasis on traditional music, songwriting and storytelling, plus music from various cultures. Genres include contemporary singer/songwriter, bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, blues, roots, Americana, and more. This calendar is scraped from the websites of local presenters and venues. Calendar entries cannot be submitted directly, only by the presenters and venues themselves when they post them on their calendars. Some venues don't have online calendars, or have ones that are too difficult to scrape. I include as many as I can. Comments?

Thee Honeybuds has the roots of an Americana setting, but with the earthy funkiness of an acoustic bass, swirling guitar leads, and honey-soaked 3-part harmony that ties the band together. It's rootsy, with a taste of blues, 80's rock, and a dash of 60's surf guitar. A sound that keeps you comfortable yet interested in what's coming next.

Johnny & Reg grew from late-night jam sessions and a shared love of funky, soulful music. Their sound drifts through blue notes and grooves, equal parts raw and refined. It carries the dust of back roads and the glow of late-night campfires — acoustic wanderers moving from town to town with a suitcase of blues, jazz-tinged melodies, and stories gathered along the way. The sound leans into raw wood and warm strings, equal parts grit and grace, always shaped by the places they pass through. Eclectic, earthy, and effortlessly heartfelt. With tight harmonies, weathered rhythms, and a laid-back charm, they will bring a rich, rootsy energy to Perihelion’s outdoor Patio!

Bryan John Appleby is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Seattle. His folk-centric body of work draws elements from mid-century pop, wall-of-sound, psychodelia, tropicália, and classic cinema. Appleby’s most recent effort, Underwater Easy Breathing (Plume Records) exemplifies a distinct production palette and fantastical tendencies. Lush, coastal, synth- laced; the album is a natural next step in his wandering, often densely layered folk repertoire.Join us on the patio to enjoy this wonderful performace!

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA It was not until after graduating high school and moving to Fremont, NE, to attend Midland University on scholarship for football that Tyler began to pursue his passion for music with vigor. After graduating, he relocated to Seattle, WA in the summer of 2017, where he currently resides and has been making impressive leaps and bounds in his songwriting, performing, and overall musical identity during his time in the PNW. His creative spin on past and present experiences breeds songs that lyrically offer a sensationalized window into his life. Tyler boasts powerful vocal performances that mix rich styles of Americana and Alternative Country music with Southern Rock and a fresh twist of soulful melodies. His music will have you singing along to a good time drinking song, reminiscing about long lost love and the regretful or questionable choices of your past, then leave you feeling uplifted, refreshed, and in an all around good mood.

Great Comet, the Americana-tinged indie rock project of songwriter Aaron New, has always been a study in motion, but with the release of the sonically expansive second album, Stranger Land, that motion has found a new direction-a deliberate journey through the spaces between. The album is a powerful document of life on the road, of experiencing lasting love alongside devastating loss, and finding a home in the hushed moments of a world seen through a van window. Though the performance pushes into electrifying new territory, the project remains grounded in New's Appalachian roots, blending a reverence for classic storytelling with a modern indie edge. Stranger Land is more than an album; it's the title of an ongoing story, capturing a pivotal moment for a project defined by change and proving that for Great Comet, the destination is still unknown, but the path forward has never been more compelling.
