Folk music concerts in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indio, Pioneertown and nearby cities in or near the Coachella Valley. I am the host of "The Real Folk" streaming at KBCS.FM. The show airs every Sunday 6-8pm. You can also stream archived shows for up to two weeks after air date. The Real Folk is also available as a podcast from MixCloud. What is folk music? To me, it's acoustic music with an emphasis on traditional music, songwriting and storytelling, plus music from various cultures. Genres include contemporary singer/songwriter, bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, blues, roots, Americana, and more. This calendar is scraped from the websites of local presenters and venues. Calendar entries cannot be submitted directly, only by the presenters and venues themselves when they post them on their calendars. Some venues don't have online calendars, or have ones that are too difficult to scrape. I include as many as I can. Comments?[>

Pete Yorn has hit numerous milestones lately. First, his acting debut in Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, then his 9th top 10 AAA hit, a landmark birthday and now his tenth studio album. The Hard Way (via Shelly Music) is a country-folk blend featuring Yorns’ raw vocals, cinematic strings and vivid, confessional lyrics. The record was co-written and produced by Josh Gudwin...

“An introspective, homespun philosopher” - New York TimesSteve Forbert is a true American musical treasure, underscored by the new album, Daylight Savings Time. Like all his albums, it's saturated with what venerated rock journalist Robert Christgau discerned as his "omnivorously observant" songwriting, marked by Steve's gift for finding the more profound meaning and magic within everyday moments, as well as his abundant melodic and poetic enchantment"Like Warren Zevon, Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen, Steve Forbert has left his unmistakable imprint on the landscape of American music," says American Songwriter. As with other esteemed creative souls, his work is marked by his own distinctive qualities, and he speaks genuinely to his listeners. As Forbert approaches the milestone of his 70th birthday, Daylight Savings Time contemplates and celebrates the proverbial 'extra hour of daylight' that comes with the time change. "Yeah, to chirping crickets and to daylight savings time!" he sings on the album's first single, "Sound Existence," "The best ain't yet to come, but you could still get by just fine."Daylight Savings Time is Forbert's third album helmed by producer/engineer Steve Greenwell...

Fusing old school string band instrumentation with rock and roll exuberance, The Brothers Comatose cement their status as standard bearers of a thriving, innovative West Coast roots movement on their intoxicating new album, Golden Grass. Recorded with co-producers Greg Holden and Tim Bluhm, the collection is as diverse and enthralling as the California landscape itself—at times carefree and breezy, at times wild and rugged—with lush, organic arrangements full of rich vocal harmonies and driving guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and upright bass. While the record marks the group’s first release with newest member Addie Levy, the result is quintessential Brothers Comatose: a warm, joyful reflection on identity and the ties that bind from a band that knows exactly who they are (and exactly where they come from).Founded by Ben and Alex Morrison in 2008, The Brothers Comatose first emerged from San Francisco with their 2010 debut, Songs From The Stoop, which helped earn dates with the likes of Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Greensky Bluegrass, and Trampled By Turtles. In the decade-and-a-half that followed, the critically acclaimed quintet would go on to release five more full-length LPs, rack up nearly 50 million streams, land festival slots at Outside Lands, High Sierra, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, tour with Lake Street Dive, The Devil Makes Three, and Yonder Mountain String Band, and build up a devoted following thanks to their raucous live shows and relentless schedule.***P&H; POLICIES***- A valid government-issued photo ID is required for entry.-Lineups, times and stage are subject to change.-Any ticket suspected of being purchased for the sole purpose of reselling can be canceled at the discretion of P&H; and/or See Tickets.-Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.-No refunds
