Folk Songs About Drunk Driving

DUI - driving under the influence.

List compiled by Susan Forbes Hansen:

Mindy Simmons: I Didn't Mean It, Don't Get It (A Fine Life in The Country)
James McMurtry has one on one of his Columbia released albums.. It might
be Down Across the Delawre for the title but I am not sure (Iceman)
Dorsey Dixon of the Dixon Brothers: "Wreck on the Highway"
Also recorded by Roy Acuff, The Fairfield Four, Wayne Scott and maybe The
Greenbriar Boys; also on the first "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" set. It has
been recorded under various titles, including "I Didn't Hear Nobody Pray" and
"Crash on the Highway"
Cary Swinney: "Hair on the Windshield"
Luke Liddy "The Night His Reputation Lost its Shine" on Imperfection
The Austin Lounge Lizards: "The Car Hank Died In"
Kip Attaway: "I'll Hold The Bottle"
The Stanley Brothers: "Drunken Driver" (also recorded by Ricky Skaggs on "Bluegrass Rules")
Bob Franke's latest song on that subject, Collateral Damage, is the most
current...actually written for Freyda Epstein. (although reports suggest
that the driver who killed Freyda set out to kill himself by driving into an
oncoming car, and hers was the one he "chose")
Arlon Bennett: "Black Ice" (although this appears to be a new song and not
on his recordings yet)

Songs about the deleterious effects of alcohol, although not necessarily
about drunk driving:

Fred Eaglesmith with Lynn Miles: Drinking Too Much (Lipstick Lies & Gasoline)
Kitty Donohoe: The Cheater (Farmer in Florida), Roheen 001
Norman Blake: Whiskey Deaf and Whiskey Blind (Far way, Down on A Georgia Farm)
Anne Hills: Your New Companion (Bittersweet Street), Redwing 5402
