Vegetarian Restaurants in
Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho
These two university towns are only 8 miles apart with the Washington / Idaho border between them.
Pullman is home to WSU (Washington State University) and Moscow is home to the University of Idaho (UI).
WSU is famous for its
Veterinary Teaching Hospital,
which is the best place to take your sick animal in the Northwest.
We brought our dog Plato here
in April, 2001 and stayed at the
Holiday Inn Express, which is a nice place that allows pets and has a business center
with free Internet access.
If you are wondering about the best route to take to drive here from Seattle, take I-90 to state highway 26.
It's a two-lane road, but the traffic is light and it's easy to pass on the long straightaways.

Vegetarian Restaurants
- Vegans, Main Street, Moscow
A new restaurant opened in Moscow this year. It is called Vegans and is on
Main Street across from BookPeople. (LH)
I heard that this has closed as of April 2003
- Moscow Food Co-Op,
221 E. Third Street, Moscow, 208/882-8537.
This co-op grocery store has a small café with five tables and a bar area.
They have a limited menu of hot food, plus deli case items and (decent) espresso.
It's not quite purely vegetarian - you can find a turkey sandwich - but almost all veggie.
- Studio 7 Vegetarian, 720 NE Thatuna, Pullman, 509/332-6863.
This address turns out to be Koinonia House, which is the campus combined ministries.
It's right next to the
The Bookie on the WSU campus.
Supposedly there is a vegetarian restaurant in there run by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church,
but I didn't go in myself.
Restaurants with Vegetarian Entrees
- Swilly's,
200 Kamiaken, Pullman, 509/334-3395.
The best food in town, with some veggie choices like a black bean burger
and vegetable curry.
It tends to be crowded and they don't take reservations.
- The Daily Grind,
230 E. Main, Pullman, 509/334-3380.
This coffee shop makes panini sandwiches and one of them is portobello mushroom
and it's good. The espresso is good, too. They have folk music here on
Friday and Saturday nights.
