Vegetarian Restaurants in Quebec City

We spent a week in Quebec City in 1997 for the Winter Carnaval. It's pretty easy to find vegetarian entrees at the bistros and restos inside the walls, since most have some pasta dishes. We visited "Le Commensal" which was a fine place. Thanks to the following for additional information: Carole, Hugh Philippin, and Colleen Bilodeau.

Vegetarian Restaurants

• Le Commensal, 860 Rue St. Jean, 2 blocks outside the walls.
  A large, nicely decorated, cafeteria kind of place. They charge for their food by weight. Mostly vegan but you can find some cheese here and there. Pretty tasty but not fantastic. Excellent desserts. There is a chain of these restaurants in eastern Canada. (RG)

  I go there often (being a native Quebecer) and I think it's great! Hope you can visit it some time. (CB)

  According to the owner, more than 80% of dishes served are vegetarian. The food is great and the restaurant is very popular. (HP)
