Northwest Folk Music Concert Calendar
(Seattle and Eastside)
by Richard Gillmann

April 21, 2025

Folk music concerts in Seattle and nearby areas. The information is gathered from the public online calendars of venues.

I am the host of "The Real Folk" on 91.3fm KBCS or streaming at KBCS.FM. The show airs every Sunday 6-8pm. You can listen to archived shows for up to two weeks after air date (also MixCloud).

This calendar is scraped from the websites of local presenters and venues. Some venues don't have online calendars, or have ones that are too difficult to scrape. I include as many as I can. Comments?

2025 World Rhythm Festival Opening Night presents Todo Es

The influences of Todo Es range from the Latin Jazz of Cal Tjader and Charlie Byrd to Brazilian Samba and Bossa Nova, interpreted through our unique instrumentation: Rebecca Garcia – vocals; Daniel Miller – guitar; Stephen Yamada-Heidner – vibraphone and steel drum; Dan Hensley – trumpet and flugelhorn; Tor Dietrichson – percussion; Tim Miller – drums, and John Lilley – acoustic and electric bass. A large repertoire of original material combines Afro-Cuban, Caribbean and Brazilian sounds with contemporary improvisation.

Goldy & Foss

Goldy & Foss

Goldy & Foss are a singer-songwriter duo based in the Seattle area. They perform original music and tasty cover tunes across multiple genres. Catch any of their live performances and you'll find them moving seamlessly from Folk to Americana, to Blues, to Rock, to Latin ballads. Yet it all manages to sound cohesive - "strangely familiar" as one fan called it - and all part of the experience. Their original compositions have memorable melodies that stand on their own, yielding an unmistakably musical foundation for his quirky and compelling lyrics. Goldy & Foss deliver musical hooks, deft arrangements, and lush horn parts that provide a "just right" touch of color to support the emotional core of each song.

Pearl Django

Pearl Django

The group’s inception was as a trio in Tacoma, Washington in 1994. The focus of Pearl Django was, and is, to incorporate the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli with American swing music. They quickly expanded to a quintet, adding a violinist and a third guitarist. An interview on NPR’s All Things Considered in 2001 brought the group to national attention. In June 2002, Pearl Django performed at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine, just outside of Paris, France. As of 2007 Pearl Django is working as both a quartet and a quintet (with accordionist, David Lange) All of the members are contributing original compositions to the band’s expansive repertoire. They have released 15 CDs to date.“If Paris is the city of love, then Pearl Django’s music is the flirtatious Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater | performing arts | Snohomish, WA, United States

Scotland’s Tannahill Weavers

Several years ago the band was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, and in 2021 founders Roy (lead singer/guitar) and Phil (flute, whistles, bodhran), and recently added fiddler Malcolm were joined by exciting piper and fiddler Iain MacGillivray, who is also Scotland’s youngest clan leader. A fluent Gaelic speaker, Iain has worked on Outlander and Men In Kilts, and has performed for many stars and dignitaries. They have that unique combination of traditional melodies, rich vocals, and driving rhythmic accompaniment that make their shows unforgettable. As the band celebrate the nomination of their 18th recording, Òrach (“Golden” in Gaelic) as album of the year, and themselves as band of the year, they are firmly established as one of Scotland’s premier groups on the concert stage, and considered a national treasure.

Celtic Guitar Master Tony McManus at Royal Room

Celtic Guitar Master Tony McManus at Royal Room

Hailed by John Renbourn as ‘the best Celtic guitarist in the world,’ Tony McManus has also been listed as one of the 50 transcendent guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine. Tony has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, his fiendishly dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic world, along with further ranging flavours such as jazz and eastern European music. Long applauded for his uncanny ability to transpose the delicate, complex ornamentation characteristic of traditional bagpipe or fiddle tunes – even the phrasing of a Gaelic song – onto his own six strings, McManus is being increasingly acknowledged as a pioneering figure in bridging the realms of Celtic music and other guitar genres, performing with the likes of Alasdair Fraser, Kevin Burke, and Natalie McMaster, among others...
