Claudia Schmidt

We are very excited to be included in the special CLAUDFEST tour! What is it? This year marks the 50th year that Claudia Schmidt has been weaving her musical magic for countless delighted audiences. It begins with her multi-octave voice, 12 string guitar and mountain dulcimer. But then the language leaps in, and it all comes together. Her love of language is obvious from the moment she opens her mouth. Her songs are pure poetry, and along her way she began adding spoken word and story,  so that her listeners get to go on a deep journey with her, returning refreshed and replenished from the experience. She has recorded 22 albums and there is much more to come. Why don’t you come and help this amazing performer celebrate as she begins her 6th decade of  composing and performing?! Saturday Night Jazz with Jean Lenke

Saturday Night Jazz with Jean Lenke

6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. | RESERVE | VIEW MENU Crossover jazz-folk fusion artist Jean Lenke has been creating diverse live music for many years in the Philadelphia area and is now starting new adventures in Washington’s great northwest. As a performing artist, composer, lyricist, and bandleader she brings the joy of her parent’s music of the 1940’s together with the spirit of the Folk & Jazz-Rock Fusion soundtrack of her own youth in an eclectic mix ~ familiar, yet slightly off center, with haunting appeal. Musically, Jean’s approach is free spirited and bold, crossing boundaries and mixing genres with a wild and creative hand. Artfully blending the magic of the past with the energy of the future Jean's delivery is transportive, melting hearts with her a crystal clear tone and sultry warmth. “I started my musical career late in life, so there’s never been any time to waste! My love of music had always been there - I just needed to tap into my own voice. Over the past 10 years I’ve learned that it’s never too late to recreate yourself." Jean Lenke's debut album, Restless!, due out in December 2019, is as diverse as Jean is and highlights her musical creativity brilliantly! Restless! includes covers & original material by Jean, Philadelphia songwriters James Soloman, Danie Ocean and Canadian David R. Miller. Fresh lyrics to classic instrumental standards and new interpretations of Joni Mitchel & Steely Dan favorites round out the project brilliantly! "Everything I know about music, I learned in Philadelphia...

Carl Tosten

Modern acoustic. Singer/songwriter. Contemporary folk. Carl Tosten is a musician whose style defies easy classification. With his strong and soulful voie and an eclectic and expressive guitar technique that includes percussion, tapping, multiple open tunings and capos, Tosten has been called an "acoustic one-man band". His introspective and thoughtful lyrics speak to us individually as well as collectively with his observations on society, the complexities of living, and love. Classical and jazzy overtones elevate his original compositions to a level more sophisticated than simply "folk", and his live performances are filled with intense energy, stories, and songs that captivate and inspire his audience.

SmallTown Strings are a brother and sister duo from Curlew, WA who are accompanied on stage with their dad, Jay Carlile, and occasionally their cousin, Josephine Hanseroth. They are the niece and nephew of multi-Grammy award winner, Brandi Carlile, and have experience playing everything from private shows, festivals, breweries, to being on the main stage with their aunt at multiple venues like Red Rocks, The Gorge, and Wolf Trap. They play Americana, Country, Rock and Bluegrass, performing both covers and original songs, and they will blow your socks off with their charisma and talent! Caroline Carlile is 16 years old and in addition to the banjo, which she started playing at 9 years old, she also plays the guitar and piano, and writes her own music. Her brother, JayJ Carlile, is 13 years old and plays guitar, bass, mandolin and fiddle. He also collaborates with their songwriting and at 11 years old, with the inspirational advice from Allison Russel who said that "music is a healer," wrote the song "Leftover Sentences," about his personal experience with anxiety. Jay Carlile has been writing music with his family since his youth and accompanies Caroline and JayJ on several of their songs. He will be joining The Judds tour for the second time this coming fall. SmallTown Strings began their first nationwide "Ramblin' Tour" this June, starting on a side stage at their aunt's Brandi Carlile's Mothership Weekend festival in Florida...
