My prayer on this day about this war

I am against this war. I am against war in general. I believe it to be obsolete as a way to resolve conflict. I believe that many people will suffer greatly.

I believe that we can do better.

But I have decided today to make a prayer for the leader of our country.

At this moment I very much want to support him and not let my doubts about him keep me from having hope and turning towards depression.

I believe deeply that we will and are building a better world.

A world based on real compassion and justice.

We have no other option or choice.

I believe that the President cares about our country and the planet as much as I do; that he believes that what he is doing is right and just.

I believe that his promises about rebuilding a real democracy in Iraq will actually occur and that our country and the world will therefore be safer.

And likewise I believe that he will fulfill his promises to move quickly with the same resolve to bring resolution and compassion to the sufferings of the Palestinians and Israelis.

I need for others and myself to learn and to grow from this moment.

I know that I can learn that I have the same impatience and fears that our leader has; and learn to deal with that impatience and those fears.

My impatience has to do with my need to control and to be right.

My fears have to do with my losing of privilege and lifestyle now and in the future.

The mystics teach me that I canąt see all facets of reality. That I canąt tell what cause and effect relationships will actually occur.

Therefore I pray that I will keep remembering that we are interconnected and interdependent on each other and on all life on this planet.

And that we shall someday overcome.
