Sunday Reflections: Trust

Sunday Reflections

I just returned from a retreat/confluence put on by the Center for Ethical Leadership in Seattle. The subject of our work was the need for trust and authentic relationships as a precursor for building community. This is important work.

What does trust mean? What does mistrust mean? What is an authentic relationship?

I offer you these questions this week for personal reflection? Each of us amazing people had to struggle with what these words meant to us. And we came up with varied meanings. There was not one answer that fit everyone. This was a short poem that I wrote based on what I got from the work. Hope it means something for you.

TRUST

You know!

It doesn't really have to do with you.

It is my daily work of becoming human.

In my relationship with you---

Have I released fear, pain and anger?

Can I face you from love?

Because you must know that---

It really doesn't have anything to do with you.
